WORKSHOP ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE EMOTIONS OF BOYS AND GIRLS WHO FACE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
THE WORKSHOP
Nico has one dad but he begins to think that there are two of them: the first one is a Sun Dad with whom you can play, laugh, learn, and sometimes be scolded; the second one, on the other hand, is a Storm Dad who gets terribly angry for no apparent reason and who rides roughshod over everything around him in those moments.
In many couples there are arguments, someone screams, someone threatens the other one, and sometimes someone raises their hands to hit the other one. What does their son feel? What does their daughter experience when she witnesses all this? And how can teachers, educators and adults around them handle those difficult emotions and support them and their family?
The workshop Papà di sole e papà di tempesta (Sun Dad and Storm Dad) takes its cue from the show based on the homonymous fairy tale by Elena Buccoliero (PH: Meridiana, 2015), which was presented by Teatro dell’Argine, to address these issues.
THE TOPICS
The first two meetings are aimed at learning more by using the play, showing short clips, to talk about the experiences and emotions of children who witness violent relationships. The meetings will be coordinated by Vittoria De Carlo (Teatro dell’Argine) and will count with the participation of Elena Buccoliero, who has been involved for many years on child protection. Together with them there will be Silvia Carboni and Gabriele Pinto, representatives of Casa delle donne per non subire violenza and Senza Violenza respectively, two associations that work in Bologna with women who have suffered violence, with men who have committed violence and, directly or indirectly, with their sons and daughters.
The third meeting will be interactive, with Vittoria De Carlo and Elena Buccoliero, to present the Papà di sole e papà di tempesta workshop experience, which has taken place since 2013 with elementary school classes and groups of teachers. We will then look at the book together with the help of Vittoria De Carlo and Biljana Hamandzieva, who will read some excerpt from it, to then start a dialogue and share experiences, doubts, and proposals.
