Essere o non essere (To be or not to be) presents four short, simple stories of boys and girls who become powerful examples and symbols of the infinite potentials that each one has. At the same time it portrays how complex it is to be freely oneself. These are stories that make us reflect, touch us and make us angry, stories that express in words and images how necessary it is to listen to and respect everyone’s temperament, character, sensitivity and uniqueness.
Four huge bellies expecting a baby rejoice, argue, and get excited. They pose questions for us and make us smile thinking about how colorful a pregnancy is from the very beginning with all the expectations. A drone arrives on stage from another planet to share the idea that there are many possible worlds and many angles from which we can view the world we inhabit. Bright wings draw a rainbow and allow each story, each life, each person to take flight.
The performance proceeds in pictures: on stage two actresses and two actors bring to life images, actions and words that chase each other. The actors’ bodies become playgrounds: they color themselves, dress up, disguise themselves, and switch places to show how each of us is an endless array of nuances of peculiarities, possibilities and even contradictions. Not always and not everything can be black or white, very often we cannot and do not want to give up colors and shades!
