The school environment is identified, even by recent laws, as a privileged space where it is possible to fight against gender discrimination and violence. Therefore, the importance of training teaching staff in this regard has been recognized. The proposal for an educational dimension that reflects on gender and cultural stereotypes is not to relegate gender education to a disciplinary area of its own, but rather to create a transversal dimension in which it is possible to have schools for the contemporary world. The course aims to train teachers and educators to: develop educational and didactic projects; use methodologies and tools as part of workshop didactics to educate on equality and gender relationships; educate on sexuality and affectivity in terms of rights and violence prevention; recognize and analyze gender issues in educational, social and cultural contexts; and recognize and deconstruct the alleged neutrality of knowledge.

Didactics and activities

In-presence activities for a total of 60 hours of lectures, which feature active teaching with university professors and well-known scholars of these topics. The lectures will be held in Bologna at the Department of Educational Sciences (Via Filippo Re 6).

The course will conclude with a final paper in the form of a hypothetical teaching project from a gender perspective.

Upon an attendance rate of 70 percent, the course will award 10 university credits.
